“Do you always watch for the longest day of the year and then miss it? I always watch for the longest day of the year and then miss it.”–Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
“I am summer, come to lure you away from your computer… come dance on my fresh grass, dig your toes into my beaches.” -Oriana Green
“Summer is the annual permission slip to be lazy. To do nothing and have it count for something. To lie in the grass and count the stars. To sit on a branch and study the clouds.” -Regina Brett
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald
“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.” -Maud Hart Lovelace
“Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August.” -Jenny Han
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” ―John Lubbock
“All in all, it was a never to be forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.” -L.M. Montgomery
Happy Summer!!! Cheers to long summer days filled with sunshine, toes in the water, sipping rosé poolside while enjoying my summer novel du jour. I just finished Elin Hilderbrand’s, The Identicals. It was great – like all of her books! Next up, Jane Green’s The Sunshine Sisters, and eagerly awaiting Cocoa Beach by Beatriz Williams. What’s on your summer reading list?
Meanwhile, summer is also the most popular time for family vacations, which means it is my busiest time of the year…my clients are taking some amazing trips from Hawaii to Iceland to Croatia and everything in between (including quite a few Italian vacations)! I will be spending some time in Florida, heading to Vegas for Virtuoso Travel Week, followed by some beach time in California…and sneaking in whatever time I can by the pool with a book in my hand. What’s on your summer travel list?
xoxo

Hi Sandy so happy to have my blog roll back so I can visit all my faves…..loved this post, a reminder as to why I so love summer. And yes so agree about it being the summer season being a permission slip to be a little lazy….my sentiments exactly. Cheers to summer!

These “Identicals” are coming over to sip rose by your pool and be your “Sunshine Sister”, Sandy! Thanks for adding to our summer reading list and for having a pool to read them by. 😉

Not sure why I am not receiving your posts! I am sorry that I missed this! Beautiful photos and quotes.
This summer we have a lot of family trips, my MIL is 90 and we are celebrating her birthday. The grandkids are home from Argentina so we will spend time with them. Lots of family and friends this summer.
When are you going to FL? One of these days we have to plan a trip to meet there!
Have a great summer Sandy!
