Happy Friday! It is hard to believe it is Labor Day weekend already. Soon we will be talking about the holidays! What is everyone doing this weekend? Enjoying the last few days at the beach? Getting little ones ready for their first day of school?

We are sending our youngest off for his second year of college this weekend. What a difference a year makes! This time last year I had a perpetual lump in my throat and the thought of saying good-bye was truly almost more than I could handle. This year he is heading out on his own with his car packed full of all the things he needs for the upcoming year. While we will miss him just as much, and no doubt I will be shedding some serious tears as he pulls out of the driveway, each year it does get a little easier.
Here are a few fun things I discovered in my wanderings this week…
Can’t make it to the America’s Cup starting this weekend in San Francisco? Sail on a 12 meter yacht in Newport…
Fascinating bookstores around the world…

National flags created from the foods for which each country is known…
A guide to Woody Allen’s Manhattan…
A great tip to know just how many toiletries to pack for a trip…
And, finally, a beautiful and poignant post about the arrival of Fall by my dear blogging friend, Tina of The Enchanted Home, which made me sob both times I read it.
Stayed tuned for a big announcement on Monday Tuesday (oops…forgot about the holiday for a sec!)…
Have a beautiful and sunny Labor Day weekend everyone…wherever you may be wandering!

I love watching boats sail…when I am on land. Hope your son has a great second year. Can't wait for the big news….what is it?

What a cute first image. Change is often difficult especially when it involves children moving on but it's surprising how we adapt to change too. I must take a look at those flags and of course I'm curious about the news!

That first photo… oh, it could have been my son, who is now nearly 26. How does that happen? I have been absent from blogland for awhile this summer, so I'm looking forward to catching up!
PS They do need to bring the America's Cup back to Newport…

Wonderful things to look forward to and I totally get the lump in my throat growing smaller with each passing year.
Happy Labor Day weekend! I'll be wearing out my whites.

Sandy, so many great finds! I love the food flags and the bookstores around the world.
Sandy I hope that you send your son off with some tasty treats. I am sure he is going to have a great year.
I loved Tina's post, made me cry too. She is a wonderful writer among her other talents.
Have you seen The Debt? It is from a couple of years ago, excellent movie. I am reading the House at Tynesfird this weekend. And baking a few things, bread, a new cookie recipe and soup.
Have a great weekend, Elizabeth

Hi Sandy,
Such fun images here today. I love new 'discoveries'. Good for you in making the adjustment now that your son is in his second year of college. I can feel that this is a much easier time than this time last year.
Happy long weekend!
