A couple of weeks ago I met a colleague and we headed up north to spend the day in the charming town of Washington, Connecticut to visit the beautiful Grace Mayflower Inn and Spa.
Designed as a luxury country retreat, the inn is set on 58 acres of beautifully landscaped property surrounded by 3000 acres of nature preserve. The leaves had not begun to change when we were there, but they must be stunning right about now.
We visited on a grey cloudy day, but we still had a wonderful time.
We began with a delicious lunch on the wicker terrace, followed by a tour of the property.
Each of the 30 rooms at the Grace Mayflower is unique. The classic and elegant decor carries through the entire property – the centerpiece of many of the rooms is a grand four poster bed.
All of our accommodations are complete with deeply comfortable feather topped mattresses, antique oriental rugs, enormous romantic marble bath accommodations (wainscoted in luxurious mahogany) with brass and Limoges fittings, as well as our signature welcoming orchid. In addition, you’ll find gas fireplaces, a well-stocked in-room bar, thick luxurious duvets, plump oversized pillows, linens by Frette and antique four-poster beds. The walls in our hotel rooms and suites are papered in either Regency stripes or Empire petit fleur and a superb collection of 18th and 19th century art can be found throughout the hotel.
One of the gems of the Grace Mayflower is the spectacular 20,000 square foot spa – it is absolutely stunning!
The Grace Mayflower is a member of Relais & Châteaux, as well as Virtuoso. I can’t imagine a more perfect weekend getaway in New England. While it is gorgeous right now with the fall colors, it would be a idyllic escape in any season.
