Wow – it has been quite a week! I have been keeping a close watch on Hurricane Matthew all week since my mother and sister both live in Jacksonville, Florida, and my niece lives in Charleston. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the path of the storm, including those in Haiti and the Bahamas.
My mother has evacuated from her senior living facility and is staying a bit inland with my sister. My niece has evacuated from Charleston for higher ground in the mountains of North Carolina. So, I know they are safe, but that doesn’t make me worry any less.
I also had a lovely client taking a small group tour of the southern coast, including Savannah and Charleston – she flew all the way from California and was ready to begin her tour on Jekyll Island, Georgia, when we got word that the entire tour had been cancelled. After a lot of scrambling, I was able to get her on one of the last remaining available flights out of Jacksonville yesterday and she has arrived home safe and sound (albeit exhausted from flying cross country two days in a row and disappointed to miss out on her tour).
Yes, thank goodness it is Friday! Other than watching an actual radar screen obsessively this week, this is what is on my radar screen right now…
I just discovered this gorgeous site thanks to Sue from The Zhush – DO check out their stunning photography.
Love Wes Anderson’s movies? Don’t miss how to travel like you are in a Wes Anderson movie…
Anyone else love cocktails at luxury hotel bars? Don’t miss this article from My Domaine.
Give into your wild side with Hermès – this is what my dreams are made of!
Fellow blogger, Une Femme d’Un Certain Age, just returned from Japan – for anyone who loves Japan and dreams of traveling there don’t miss her posts here and here. Between her posts and the latest issue of Departures Magazine, it really took me back to our trip exactly two years ago. I would LOVE to go back!
Finally, come join me and other bloggers share our travel tales at Calypso in the Country’s “Take Me Away” Link Party which she holds on the first Friday of each month.
That’s all for me – now back to keeping my eye on this storm.
Please be safe if you are in the path of Hurricane Matthew! Have a lovely weekend, my friends…wherever you may be wandering…

Sandy, thank you for working with me for at least 4 hours on getting a flight out of Jekyll Island. You certainly worked your magic and I am eternally grateful.

Seeing all of the pictures of the aftermath of the storm is just so heartbreaking. Even with the evacuations, there was still a loss of life and certainly lots of loss of property. I’m glad that your mom could evacuate to your sister’s and that they are both safe.

So happy to hear that your mom, sister and niece are well. This storm had me watching the radar for the last week too. We had 87 mile an house winds on saturday and 12 inches of rain. Tons of trees down and flooding. I am happy that we had no damage and that it is over.
I hope that you have a fabulous week! xoxo
Off to check out these great links!
