You may have heard of The Goring before…it is the London hotel where Kate Middleton spent the night before she officially became Duchess Kate. While you may have correctly assumed it is a posh hotel fit for a future princess, you may not know that it is also a wonderful place for families to stay while visiting London.
As a family owned hotel for four generations, The Goring welcomes children with open arms. They often offer generous discounts when booking two rooms under their family plan, as well as VIP amenities for the little ones…
V.I. (little) P. Amenities
On arrival at The Goring new parents will discover a Goring basket of essentials to help with babies. Lotions, potions, changing mats and sacks, bath toys and bath mats – all the little things that are easy to miss or that you may not have room to pack.
Young guests at The Goring can visit our Bedtime Story Library where they are welcome to choose from a charming collection of short stories, fables, picture books, old favourites and modern classics.
A Goring cuddly ‘Baaa-bara Sheep’ as well as a ‘For Kids’ Eyes Only’ pack awaits children on arrival. Containing an activity book, colouring crayons to doodle with and a Goring Passport to keep a personal record of their London trip and stamps collected from each area of the hotel, these packs provide plenty of entertainment.
The chef even invites child guests down to the Goring Kitchen, getting them to don an apron and chef’s hat to decorate delicious cakes and chocolate chip cookies, giving mum and dad a chance to relax over a glass of Bollinger at the Goring Bar or an Afternoon Tea on the Veranda.
And, who wouldn’t love the hotel ” Dressing Up Box”? It is filled with costumes and accessories for 3-9-year olds to dive into whilst they are in residence. As one might expect, the dressing up box is about all things English – From fairytale princesses, Harry Potter, Beefeaters, a British Bobby to a Guardsman. What a perfect way to add to your children’s “quintessential London experience”!
Just because The Goring is family friendly, doesn’t mean they sacrifice the luxury – the hotel is stunningly elegant. After a client stayed recently, she couldn’t stop raving about how perfect it was for her three young children, while still satisfying her desire for five star luxury. And the service is over the top amazing! I have never worked with a better concierge team than the staff at The Goring.
And remember…when booking through a me, as a Virtuoso travel advisor, my clients receive complimentary daily breakfast for two, $100 hotel credit and an upgrade if available, in addition to the family plan discount and all of the above children’s amenities!
Conveniently located in Belgravia just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, The Goring is an excellent home base for visiting London. London, in general, is a perfect place to introduce your children or grandchildren to traveling abroad – a different culture but not “too” different. Why not add London and The Goring to your list of places to visit??
Ready to hop the pond for the royal treatment? I know I am!!
