Happy Friday! Do you ever feel like you blink and a week goes by? This week has just flown! I am finally catching up on my reading – both blogs and books…here are a few things that have pinged my radar screen this week…
Ines de la Fressange Opens a Boutique in Paris from Have Some Decorum…just another reason I NEED to go to Paris sooner rather than later!
Reclaiming the Age Old Art of Getting Lost from the New York Times…
Also the New York Times, A $1000 Day in Paris for $100…

currently traveling in Amsterdam and London – definitely worth following
along!

This is not the least bit travel related but it is SO touching and offers some excellent lessons for life – Sheryl Sandberg on Choosing Life and Finding Meaning after her husband’s death.
Books…

I just finished reading My Paris Dream by Kate Betts. It was more fashion oriented than Paris oriented but I still really enjoyed it.
I also read the The Storied Life of AJ Fickry by Gabrielle Zevin – I could NOT put this book down. Thank goodness it is short so it only took a few hours to read. What a gem of a book…definitely add this to your summer reading list.
My husband, son and I are doing a “family book club” where we are all reading the same book. We chose In Sunlight and In Shadow by Mark Helprin. He is one of my favorite authors and, boy, can he write! This is one of most beautifully written books I have read in years – I am only 100 pages in but I don’t want it to end. It is as much a love story of New York City as between the two main characters. I still have 558 pages to go but I have a feeling it will become a favorite.
One last thing before I sign off for the weekend…everyone cross your fingers that by tomorrow evening we will be celebrating the first Triple Crown Champion in 37 years. American Pharoah wasn’t my Derby pick, but I love Bob Baffert and I think a Triple Crown is just what the “Sport of Kings” needs right now – Go Pharoah!
Have a fabulous weekend, my friends…wherever you may be wandering…

Oh my goodness….it was Secretariat that was the last triple crown winner, correct? I remember! OK, Pharoh, let's GO DUDE! What a gorgeous creature! My eyes well up with tears when I see or pet a horse. Go figure.
Dearest Sandy, you are offering many great ideas for a lazy and wonderful rest on the porch with a great book and a good drink in hand. HAPPY DAY!!!! Anita

Happy weekend Sandy! I'm grabbing just a moment in a crazy week to say hello and catch up. I can't believe we missed each other in San Diego by a week. It seems you and both have an affinity for books set in Paris and the Rivieras (I'll take either one). Fantastic list…I'll have time to read again in a few days-so ready!
Enjoy your weekend darling!

Hello Sandy,
There are a million reasons to go to Paris! Do not put it off for too long. In fact I think that one of your fortes should be organizing blogging tours!
I loved that AJ Fickery book! Read it in one day as well. There are so many great books to read this summer I cannot wait to dive in.
I cannot wait to check out your other links, always fun to see what you find interesting.
I hope that you have a great weekend my dear,
xox Elizabeth

We can't get our nose out of I Drink to That byBetty Halbreich but once we do, we'll have your picks to choose from. Have a great weekend!

Always love seeing what's on your radar, Sandy. Paris is ALWAYS on my radar too. Currently reading My Paris Dream and scheming on how and when I'll get back. Venice would be lovely, too.
Hope you are enjoying June – can't believe we're already on the second week! XOXO
