Heading down to Southern California, we find another destination where I would love to have the opportunity to visit – Golden Door. With a fifty year history, it is world renowned as the ultimate health and fitness destination. While many people think of a spa week as a something you do solo or with a group of women, Golden Door offers quite a few co-ed weeks, and, the men only weeks are becoming more and more popular. The week long programs are all-inclusive with many amenities including all meals featuring farm to table ingredients, multiple sessions with a personal Fitness Guide, a daily in-room massage and other spa treatments; access to 20 miles of private
trails for walking and hiking; numerous fitness classes and gyms to choose from; and a complete spa wardrobe with daily laundry service. No excuses here!

What do you get when you combine 6,000 acres of pristine natural beauty surrounded by the red rock canyons of Western Colorado, an owner who founded the Discovery Channel and the luxuries of a five star resort? Gateway Canyons…the ideal vacation for families with active teenagers (or adult children), groups of friends or even a corporate retreat. Discovery Channel founder, John Hendricks, took his favorite touches from the many luxury properties where he has stayed, and has brought them back to his own resort at Gateway Canyons, so luxury lovers will not be disappointed. What really makes this property stand out, however, is the multitude of activities available – horseback riding, fly fishing, mountain biking, river rafting and helicopter tours, as well as an off road driving experience and auto museum which make this a “must visit” for driving enthusiasts.

SO…there we have it…just a few of the remarkable properties I discovered at Virtuoso Travel Week. For every one I included in a post, there were five more that were equally as spectacular. It is a big world and it is filled with more beautiful places than any of us could visit in a lifetime…but it can’t hurt to try!
Here are my other posts on my “best of the best” from travel week:
Africa
Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific
South America
Asia
Europe
Mexico and the Caribbean

We were in San Francisco for Labor Day weekend and spent Sunday at the Sausalito Art Festival. What a beautiful place! I love the idea of a girls' getaway to The Lodge at Golden Gate!

Good morning dear Sandy! I could already use a getaway like the one here with the woman eating a healthy breakfast, donning a bathrobe! YEP, school is on its third week, and I'm already feeling it….
So good to see you. Anita

Sandy – you have read our minds! We actually stayed at the Cavallo Point for a long girls' weekend two years ago and it was sheer heaven. The view, the hikes, the food, the massages – all were perfection. And The Lowell is also one of our favorite places when we want a girls' night out in the city. We highly recommend both!!

Sandy,
I've been catching up going through all your posts. So many amazing recommendations! I've heard of some but the only 2 I've been to are The Sanctuary and then I've visited Isle de France for dinner. I'd love to try Cavallo Point but we might have to plan an L.A. trip first! So much to do!!!
Sounds like you got a lot out of your time at the convention. Hope we can get together in the coming months so you can tell me more about it!
