Happy Friday everyone!! We survived the first week back after the holidays and the “polar vortex”!
The picture above was taken by my daughter, Caroline, last Saturday as she was flying into Reagan National airport in DC after spending the holidays here in Connecticut.
Today’s post is a bit of a mish-mash since I haven’t done an “On My Radar Screen” post for a while…

First up, I was extraordinarily lucky in December and won TWO amazing giveaways!! One was the incredible blue and white vintage foo dog from The Pink Pagoda and Duchess Fare. It is the centerpiece in my newly styled bookshelves in my family room. Thank you, Jennifer and Sarah!!! Also, in celebration the fourth anniversary of her blog, Sarah is offering a generous 40% off at her etsy store but the sale ends today, so don’t wait!
via Splendid Market |
The other giveaway I won was the luscious smelling Antica Farmacista Prosecco diffuser from Splendid Market. I am thrilled with this luxurious home fragrance that takes me back to Italy every time I smell it. Thank you, Emily!!
What a treat to receive these lovely giveaways during the holidays!
This week has been fantastic reading in the blogosphere with all my fellow bloggers sharing their holiday travels, reviews of 2013 and inspirational posts for 2014, so I have quite a few links to share with you today…

If you think you have been cold this week, imagine being in Milwaukee…Elizabeth from Pine Cones and Acorns actually ventured out into the sub-zero temperatures and took some stunning photos of Lake Michigan.
via I Dream Of |
I didn’t think a cold weather getaway could look good to me right now until I read Jeanne at I Dream Of‘s post about her New Year’s vacation. Don’t you just love the bubbly in the snow?
via Design Chic |
I loved the images in Design Chic‘s post on home swapping. Do you think anyone with a villa on Santorini might want to spend the summer in Connecticut? A girl can dream…
via Collage of Life |
My favorite expat, Jeanne of Collage of Life, wrote a wonderful post sharing her holiday travels to New Zealand and Australia. Her photos were definitely all I needed to dream of spending a holiday “down under”.
via NYC Style and a Little Cannoli |
Rosemary from NYC Style and a Little Cannoli presented her annual calendar of all the “must see” museum exhibits in New York for 2014. Be sure to bookmark this one if you will be spending any time in the city this year.
We braved the cold last night and went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Perfect for anyone who loves to wander or loves to dream of wandering, I enjoyed it immensely and highly recommend it if you are looking for a good movie for the weekend.
Today, I am in the city for the Virtuoso Northeast Regional Conference. I am excited to be participating in this event and, no doubt, will be bringing back all sorts of incredible travel resources to share with you!
Have a fabulous weekend, my dears…wherever you may be wandering!!

I love your blog. You remind me of so many things that are important to me, wherever I may wander.
Oh that polar vortex did us in…..but we are back to normal cold temps for our region, and at the rate the time is going, spring will be here soon!
Sandy dear, BE WELL and enjoy your day! Anita

Hi Sandy! What fun to stumble on our Methow Valley retreat here! Thank you so much for the shout out!!!
I'm glad you survived the cold – with the rain and wind were are having here the photo of Santorini is looking pretty appealing right now. As is the idea of hunkering down in a warm movie theater and getting lost in Walter Mitty! Definitely on my list.
Happy Weekend! XOXO

Good evening Sandy! Thank you for coming by this evening to my new post. I know your travels are already taking you to places where beauty is found in warmth, sunshine and color, but as you can see by my new post, I am dreaming of all things LUSH! But I was challenged when I found the Oldenberg quote to "Look for beauty where it is not supposed to be found." TOUCHÉ…..oh, to read others' thoughts….we get so inspired!
Enjoy whatever you are doing and find something B E A U T I F U L in the most unlikely place! Anita
