Happy Friday! It seems like this is the time of year when everyone is on vacation. This August I am not doing much traveling – I am saving all my wandering for September and October when I will be away more than I will be home. Now that I am an “empty nester”, I can avoid the summer crowds, but it still doesn’t make me any less envious of all of you who are traveling around Europe or relaxing on the beach right now!
I guess I will just fantasize that I am spending my weekend in this glorious setting on
Lake Como…

Here are a few more interesting items from the world of travel that hit up on my radar screen this week:

Twenty charming shop fronts around the world from Messy Ness Chic (a great site if you love travel along with a little irreverence). Plus one more that I love…

I really enjoyed this photo essay of a first timer’s view of Nantucket from Fathom, another excellent travel site.
Would you go tree camping? Definitely NOT me…

And, finally, my weekend book recommendation is The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison. I could NOT put this book down (h/t to Katie from The Preppy Empty Nester for recommending it to ME). Reminiscent of Gone Girl, it is definitely a page turner.
That’s a wrap for this week…have a marvelous weekend, wherever you may be wandering!

WOW SANDY! Tree camping???? You are the travel guide to keep an eye on, that is for sure! I hope that one day soon my husband and I can get back to Europe; that is my favorite destination and with all the beaches, countryside and cities it has to offer, I think I'll focus on Europe for a while! LOVELY PHOTOS of all places magical and intriguing! Anita
PS – I'll miss you while you're away!

Why is it that everyone is going to Nantucket this summer but me? It is one of those days where my cup isn't half empty…. I didn't get a cup! I can't imagine how sad it feels when your kids leave. My daughter is away for the week, and it hurts a little. Enjoy your reading.

Gorgeous!! Is it possible to be in love with a place without ever having gone there:) Lake Como is calling to me!
I am going to read the book, I enjoyed Gone Girl and am looking for something new that will draw me right in. LOVE that picture of the doorway with the lemons..had to pin that!
Have a great weekend Sandy.

Hi Sandy!
So many great images and Italy is next on our travel list. I will be an empty nester in two weeks and the tears have already started.
(Cried in the super market this evening just talking about it!)
Loving all your beach photos from your earlier post too. Gorgeous.
Have a great weekend!

I visited Lake Como when I was a teenager with my parents and I would love to return sometime. I don't think the tree camping is for me either! I like the coffee guide – interesting. Have a good weekend.
