In my wanderings I have found some very creative uses of maps…
Marcelle Crosby on Etsy |
…folded into a tiny dress as a charming wall decoration in a young girls’ room.
Rifle Paper Co. |
…as an enchanting way to tell the story of a bride and groom (and a great piece of art for the couple).
DLK Designs on Etsy |
…as cuff links or charms to remember a special place.
Savannah Jacks on Etsy |
…using nautical charts to create a custom platter.
Martha Stewart Weddings |
…as uniquely matted frames for photos from your travels…this is an easy DIY by simply covering a plain mat with a map of your favorite destination.
Cavallini Wrapping Paper – Paris Monuments (20×28 inches) by Paper Source |
…as wrapping paper (I used the above paper to wrap plane tickets to Paris for my daughter’s high school graduation gift)…recycled old maps make excellent wrapping paper as well.
Cavallini Wrapping Paper – London (20×28 inches) by Paper Source |
…or even framed as inexpensive art…wouldn’t this London wrapping paper be amazing framed in a boy’s room? Each sheet is only $3.95!
Any of the Cavallini papers would be good for making the DIY frames above, as well.
Have you done anything special with maps? I would love to hear more!!

How fun! That wedding invitation is precious! I have seen the DIY mats around the world wide web, and I think that is a really neat way to showcase travel photos.
Hope your week is off to a nice start.
