Happy Spring! We got back VERY late last night from a few days in Florida visiting family. It was a wonderful trip – what a pleasure to feel the warmth of the sun and to be able to eat outside!! I was surprised to return home to find we still have a fair amount of snow on the ground and another six inches planned for today. Will this ever end? Of course it will…I just heard birds chirping outside my window and, despite the forecast, I can feel spring in the air!
To celebrate the blossoming season, let’s escape to one of my new favorite places in the world – Japan! I fell in love with Japan after our visit there last fall – I would LOVE to go back during the Spring for Sakura (Cherry Blossom) season.
In the meantime, I will close my eyes and pretend those snowflakes I will be seeing later today are beautiful cherry blossoms floating to the ground. (Nothing like positive thinking!)
Have a beautiful SPRING weekend…wherever you may be wandering…
xoxo

Welcome back Sandy! I think it's a very good plan to turn those snow flakes into cherry blossoms. I wish I could pack up some spring in a box and ship it to you! These photos are absolutely gorgeous, and now I also want to go to Japan for the cherry blossoms – I'd love to paint them.
Hope that in spite of the snow you have a wonderful first weekend of spring! XOXO

Stay warm Sandy dear, I'm hoping that this snow will be your last! I would love to see these blossoms in Japan for real, they are I think, the best (nature-wise) given to the U.S. by the Japanese!

Ok, we'll do the same thing as we drive home through several inches of snow tonight… Cherry blossoms are some of our favorite blooms and having spent time both in Japan and Washington DC, we can attest to their loveliness. Happy Spring, Sandy, and have a great weekend!

Is there ANYTHING more beautiful than a place covered with nature's blush? Japan has to be one of the most lovely places to experience the bloom of spring, but DC can sure boast a wonderful show too! HAPPY SPRING, SANDY! Anita

Happy Spring, Sandy!!!! I can not believe that we had another snowfall. But, today is looking up…the melting has really been happening and I think the end is in sight. We had a wonderful time in Colorado, as the blue skies and sunshine plus mountain views really were beautiful. But, I've gotten Grant's agreement that we are going warm next year, so get ready to talk options!!! I know it's never too early to start working on places.
Love your cherry blossom post. One of the best trips we've taken as a family was to D.C. during the 100th anniversary of the cherry blossoms, which were in glorious full bloom. I've never been to Ireland, so your post on St Patty's was very inspiring! Some friends and I are chatting about celebrating our next milestone birthday in Napa…so loved your post on the Poetry Inn!!!! You always have the best ideas!
Here's to Spring and getting together soon!
xoxo Elizabeth

Welcome home! Isn't it lovely to see family and have some warm, sunny, relaxing days thrown in at the same time? I hope everyone was well!
I have never been to Japan but I love cherry blossoms and often walk along the path in DC while there to take them in!
Have a wonderful and hopefully warm week, it is cold, cold and more cold here.
