As I am writing this we are experiencing our 14th snowstorm of the season here in Connecticut…we currently have received more snow here than they have this winter in Anchorage, Alaska. Enough is enough…
One of the many pleasures of being a Virtuoso travel advisor is participating in online “webinars” showcasing various properties around the world. Recently, I participated in one for the Ritz Carlton Reserve ~ Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico. It really “wow-ed” me and I want to share it with all you. So, sit back, relax and take a few minutes from your day to enjoy this short virtual vacation to this tropical paradise…

While many of you may be familiar with the Ritz Carlton brand, you may not be familiar with their “Reserve” properties. Currently there are two – the Dorado Beach property and Phulay Bay in Thailand, with quite a few more in the works. The concept is to create smaller, more intimate properties in keeping with the “sense of place” of each one’s destination.
Here is how the Dorado Beach resort is described on their website:
A cherished destination, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is an intimate retreat offering a true sense of barefoot elegance, blending Laurence Rockefeller’s novel environmental design philosophies and modern yet minimal décor. Created as an open-air enclave infused with references to the surrounding natural landscape and diverse culture, Dorado Beach is a true luxury sanctuary designed to allure the world’s most discerning travelers through a bevy of one-of-a-kind lifestyle experiences.
So, what do you think? Does this look as enticing to you as it does to me?
Are you also dreaming of an island vacation right now?
Maybe you have you managed to get away (between snowstorms) to enjoy a tropical paradise? Or, are you reading this from Florida, California or some other lovely place in the world where it is always summer?
Let’s talk…where would YOU like to be today?

THE 14th OF THE SEASON? Oh dear, I think I stopped counting after Monday's storm here….and yesterday, we had a gorgeous thaw of 40 degrees. HOWEVER, what did it do? WE have severe ice damming on the north side of the house, and on a valley in the roof line, we got a leak. Our beautiful new plastered ceiling in the dining room has a big warp and underneath, we have a bucket of water!
But all is well, thank goodness, and here I am to DREAM! Thank you for always sharing the most beautiful places in the world….Anita

I was there 9 years ago before the Ritz Carlton came in and did their magic. It was a pretty resort then but it looks spectacular now! Wow! Thanks for sharing. I needed to see some tropical escapes this winter. We live in NJ so we have also been pounded with snowstorm after snowstorm!

Oh yes, definitely!A seemingly private island vacation is perfect for me anytime. Sometimes, the less grand (meaning, less people), the better!

Holy Snomaggeden! I actually got my 4 wheel SUV stuck in the snow in my driveway. That's how much snow there is! I had no idea we had had 14 snowstorms. No wonder I'm over winter! 🙂
I have had some friends tell me about the RC at Puerto Rico, so I'm happy to hear it endorsed by you. I I also didn't know about the reserve properties. Going back to check it out more closely.
Need some ideas for next Spring Break!

The pictures are wonderful and convey such a sense of relaxation! BUT included in "a sense of place" is the work ethic and attitude of the people living in an area….when I was working 60 hour+ weeks, I went to Puerto Rico for a rare vacation. The service attitude is so laid back, you are lucky to get any food, ever, or even get a bus ride back from the beach! Still, the pictures are nice! Thank you!

Sandy, that looks amazing. I could spend some very happy days there, I think. I can't believe you've had 14 snow storms this year! But spring is just a month away, right? We are heading to the sun next week and I can't wait – no snow here, but the rain and wind are starting to get me down!
Thanks for a few minutes in the sun! XOXO

Sandy dear-having so much fun catching up on all that I missed while traveling with spotty wi-fi coverage. Not that I'm complaining since I was on a beachy vacation in Los Cabos. I hope you could feel the sunshine I was trying to blow your direction. 😉 Now it's mounds of laundry and back to work for me. These images of the Ritz look absolutely stunning. Pure luxury (and I like that vibe).
xx, Heather

I'm still in Chicago where we have several feet of snow still on the ground and, like you, we seem to get more every other day. These beautiful beach scenes warm my soul! I love sitting by the water, reading a book, listening to the waves with a "special" drink at my side. Of course I'd be under an umbrella, wearing a hat, sunscreen and SPF 50 clothing!
