Happy Friday!!! I don’t know about you all but I am ready for a quiet, relaxing weekend! This week has been busing with planning many adventures for the upcoming spring but right this weekend I plan to spend a lot of time in my warm and cozy home!
 

 
For Christmas, our three children gave us this incredible portrait of our home by artist, Laura Trevey (Laura is also the blogger behind the gorgeous Bright, Bold and Beautiful). Isn’t it amazing? It was so sweet that the kids all got together and worked with Laura to commission this watercolor. I took it to Kinko’s yesterday and had it digitally scanned before I took it to the framing store. Even though my blog is about wandering far and wide, we all know that, ulitmately, there is no place like home, so I wanted to share this with you! Thank you Caroline, Christopher and Carter…and thank you, Laura, for painting such a beautiful representation of our home.

Another book going on my “to read” list is The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan takes us to Belle Epoque Paris and into the studio of Edgar Degas (thanks to Nichole at Obvious State, previously known as Little Brown Pen, for this recommendation)

 Through one of my favorite blogs, Sarah Tolzmann’s Note to Self, I discovered the gorgeous travel photos of Peggy Wong. These photos are stunning..I could spend hours on her blog, On Blue Pool Road dreaming of where I would like to go next.

Have you seen the online show EX-PATS via the Reserve Channel? Each episode, hosted by Savannah Buffet (Jimmy Buffet’s daughter) features people who have left behind their life and careers to move abroad and pursue their dreams. I may just be watching this on my iPad this weekend (along with the Season Premiere of Girls and the latest Downton Abbey!)

Okay, I am off to make a nice cup of tea, relax and read my latest book (I just started Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis…anyone else reading it?) Have a beautiful weekend!!

    • I did see you picture on your header! But I didn't realize it was be Laura until after I received my painting! My 23 year old found her on etsy, not realizing I follow Bright,Bold & Beautiful…what a coincidence!!!

  2. Your home portrait is beautiful! And I can tell that your house is, too! I also want a weekend at home. Just hanging out with family, eating some comfort food, reading and watching some good TV. Sounds perfect!

  4. WOW! Now that is a fabulous watercolour! Sandy, your home if spectacular, and this style home is so dear to my heart. Living in Massachusetts for many years, these are the types of homes I would constantly see. Here where I live, these homes are also very popular, but mixed in with such a lovely variety of classic styles. ENJOY!

  5. The portrait is GORGEOUS! Helps if you have a beautiful home, which you certainly do! Very thoughtful gift from your kids. Thanks for the book recommendations…..only one I know and that is on my nightstand next in line is The Painted girls. Looks fantastic! Just finished Gone Girl which I thought was really good, and totally held my attention. Anyway, hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    I love this book suggestion, I know have it on my list. I have about 33 books next to the bed for my winter reading, but I have been sidetracked this week with work, life and home projects.
