Hi everyone…remember on Friday, when I was SO happy the week was over? Well…my weekend did not turn out quite as I hoped. Just after I took my first sip of a nice cold Rosé, I slipped on my kitchen floor (socks and shiny wood floors do NOT go together!)…I have never felt such excruciating pain and immediately knew something was seriously wrong. Long story short, I ended up fracturing my left humerus – the upper arm bone. Not pretty. I am headed to the orthopedic doctor today, but I have already been warned to expect a lengthy recovery – six to eight weeks.
I am pretty adept at typing with my right hand (and using my my thumb to “like” instagram photos), but I expect I will have no choice but to really limit my computer time while I recover. Please know, I will be
diligently reading all of your blogs, even if you don’t receive a
comment from me. And if you would like to share a guest post on travel, I
am sure with my one good arm, I can manage to post it to my site. I
will check-in whenever possibly, but please understand why I may be
posting a lot less frequently for a while.

Thank goodness
for the world’s most supportive husband who has always been my hero,
but the past two days, he has bordered on saintly. He will be getting a
crash course on cooking, cleaning, laundry and taking care of a one
armed travel maven. 😉 Now if anyone has any fashion advice for what to
wear over what feels like with the world’s most bulky sling…please let me know!

Dearest SANDY!
I have been thinking of you and I am taking your advice…NO MORE SOCKS on shiny floors! We have no carpeting, so I best wear my slippers, especially after I clean the floors!
My friend, I wish you a speedy recovery and that you break the record of healing time! And I will send you photos so that when you are ready, you can post.
HUGS TO YOU! Anita

So sorry, you poor girl. I do hope you are feeling at least comfortable and get a good report from the dr. today…too bad the husbands cannot take their crash course together, though mine might have to go into the remedial section, lol.
Feel better and take care of yourself!~

Oh no! Sandy, I am SO SORRY. That sounds painful. We will miss you, but most important is to mend! Take care of yourself, dear.
PS – I think that Grace Kelly most definitely showed us the chicest way to style a cast. Can't go wrong with an Hermes sling. And If I remember correctly from when I slipped on the ice in Zermatt, roomy sleeves are a must. Thank goodness it's tunic and caftan season…. Take good care! XO

I think I may need to take a road trip and feed you some coffee my dear! I am so sorry to hear this if there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to ask! I am just a car ride away!! xo Karolyn

Major bummer!! I hope that your recovery is closer to the 6 week time frame (or less!) and that it passes swiftly!! Take care, Sandy!

Oh what rotten luck, hope you mend quickly!! Feel better soon.

Oh Sandy!!! I feel so terrible for you. I hope that you get good news at the doctor's today and your recovery is a quick one!

Oh dear! I'm so sorry to read this. I hope the setting and mending begin quickly. Having broken a bone (fibula) some 20+ years ago while out on an evening walk with my husband — I remember that beyond the pain and the inconvenience, there was an unexpected element — the "intimations of mortality" that continued to send shock waves for some time. You must still be in the midst of processing all the physical and emotional trauma — do take care of yourself and let others do so as well.
Marsha Splenderosa says
Well, I guess we must look on the bright side of this, Sandy. At least you should get a bit of rest, spending time researching where you want to travel next, talking on the phone, NOT doing housework or laundry, and spending good quality time with family, husband, kittie, and your friends. I know they will all take you out to cheer you up. And, this time you'll get to finish the wine !!!
The Buzz Blog says
Oh my goodness, Sandy, what a way to spend the rest of your summer. We agree with Marcia that there is a sliver lining – having the Mr. do all the cooking, cleaning and laundry can't be all that bad. As for fashion, we'd stick to loose tunics and bare feet since socks are dangerous! Hang in there (with one arm) and enjoy some well deserved rest.

So sorry to hear that Sandy!!!! That is a painful type of fracture, don't worry about us, we'll be here once your up and ready. Now, you really have the 'perfect' (well, not really, coz, perfect doesn't hurt) to slow down a bit! Good luck to your hero as he tackles the glorious world of women everywhere! Take care! XO -Vel

Oh my dear Sandy…that sounds so painful! I know that so much of what you do is online-so this is a real adjustment. I do hope you can make your way to some pool time and lounging-especially since the computer will be less active for you. I'm just back from 2 weeks in Riviera Maya and having fun catching up with my blog friends. Here is to a very speedy recovery for you girlfriend!
xx, Heather

Sandy,
I have been traveling sine June 28 and not really keeping up with blogging. I am so sorry I missed this! I hope that you are feeling a little better! Perhaps this is a little respite and a message to sit back and let others take care of you for a bit! Enjoy the summer my dear and make sure to relax and let others do what they can to make you comfortable.
Hopefully you will not have any more travel problems!
