Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Brant Foundation Art Study Center here in Greenwich to see the incredible Andy Warhol exhibit which will be running until the fall.

The Brant Foundation Art Study Center was created by Peter Brant, a Greenwich resident, an avid art collector and arts advocate. He is also the publisher of Interview Magazine, which was founded by Andy Warhol, as well as The Magazine Antiques, Art in America and Modern magazine, and the Chairman and CEO of White Birch Paper.
According to their web site, The Brant Foundation Art Study Center, which was founded in 2009, “has a mission to promote education and appreciation of contemporary art and design, by making works available to institutions and individuals for scholarly study and examination. The Brant Foundation Art Study Center presents long-term exhibitions curated primarily from the collection. The collection is remarkable in that scores of artists are represented in depth, including works from the earliest period of their practice through their most recent works.”

The majority of the works in the exhibit are owned by the Brant Foundation Art Study Center .
The stunning large Mao portrait is on loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Polaroids taken by Warhol line the stairwell of the gallery.
My favorite work was the self-portrait and the way it reflected on the floor.
Another of my favorites is a large scale drawing of The Last Supper…you can see the corner of it in the above picture and the magnitude of it in the one above that.
The fields surrounding the Foundation, with Jeff Koons’ Balloon Dog on display (currently a sculpture by Urs Fischer is displayed in this location).
The exhibitions are held in a stunning setting, a former cold storage barn redesigned as an art gallery by noted architect Richard Gluckman, surrounded by polo fields and wooded properties, in back country Greenwich.
The Brant Foundation Art Study Center is open by appointment only. If you are going to be near Greenwich any time this summer or fall, you should definitely see this incredible collection of Warhol’s work.
